“South Africa in Global Affairs”


Jeanette Ndhlovu was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. She came to the United States in 1977 to help strengthen the anti-apartheid

movement while also pursuing her education. She joined the Observer Mission of the African National Congress (ANC) to the

United Nations in 1987 where she advocated for the protection and promotion of the rights of South Africans until her departure from

the U.S. in 1994. In September 2000 she was appointed Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations. She was appointed as

Consul-General of the Republic of South Africa to Los Angeles in October 2004 and has since received several awards and commendations.

She has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Missouri, a B.S. in Public Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia,

and a M.A. from New York University in Counseling Psychology.
